Birds n Bugs

73DFC587-8060-4BCC-A281-17B43BFA8CF1SOO today was about birds n bugs.  IT’s pretty hard to imagine being a bird for tots BUT our stick and worm collecting game provided opportunities to be active, to practice observational skills, teamwork, some counting and connection with nature – particularly our scramble through the ‘Fairy Door’.

Sensory play was provided through spaghetti worms and mud with fine motor skills in using giant tweezers, flying our parachute to give a sense of Nature’s power and wearing wings to be birds.  Lovely role play too with the woodland animals who also made their way into the giant birds nest.

Finishing off with a chance to try the fire steal, have our happy/ sad face coming together and plan for next Thursday.

Colour Fun

C8ED07C6-7064-42A5-93FB-7736C56BE890.jpegSUCH a fun session – all the children were AMAZING – am still giggling about the water pistol fight!

WE walked round the site and looked at the trees, naming a few, jumping over ditches & climbing over branches, we played a water pistol tracking game (welcome in this heat!) which, naturally degenerated into a free for all!  There was some potions mixing & exploring with colour making some volcanoes, some den building & tool use, some bubble action and making willow wands.

AFTER snack we collected leaves and looked at symmetry through printing and this then extended to dying the cloth with the remaining food colouring – an awesome idea!
